About me

Hello! I'm Norah Mayyan, an elementary art teacher passionate about nurturing young artists. I've always been captivated by the world of colors, shapes, and imagination. My journey into the world of education began in the serene landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, where I was inspired by the natural beauty of Northern Idaho's lakes, mountains, and forests. While in Idaho Falls, I actively participated in teaching arts, which sparked my interest in teaching.

The imperfection

I aim to share my love for the great outdoors with my students. I firmly believe that nothing brightens the mood like a sunny day. Whenever possible, I take my young artists outside to explore and draw inspiration from nature. Idaho Falls' bike-friendly environment enables me to engage in outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and simply appreciating the beauty of the natural world. My recent interest in running, which I've pursued through Idaho Falls rivers, adds an exciting dimension to my life and teaching.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you teach can make a difference.

Teaching Philosophy

As an art teacher for elementary students, my mission is to empower young artists to tell stories that matter to them and resonate with the community. Art has a unique power to teach empathy, and I am committed to nurturing this understanding in my students. I aim to help them discover their individuality, encouraging self-acceptance, empathy, and kindness. These values are the foundation of my classroom, where I prioritize safety and respect. Alongside these principles, I have high expectations for my students. I firmly believe in their potential to learn, grow, and create impressive works of art. We will create memorable and impactful artistic experiences for our audience through hard work and dedicatione.

Technology Integration Statement:

I am well-versed in various technological tools, including classroom management software, video editing applications, rubric creation apps, and gamification resources. I am committed to using technology to prepare my students for the digital age, teaching them ethical and proficient use. I will provide hands-on experiences with art-related technology, equipping them with the skills they need for the future. Sharing our artistic successes and discoveries with others through technology will be a key aspect of my teaching approach. Together, we'll explore the vibrant world of art whileembracing technology’ss opportunitiess.
